Reality Mining- Focus Groups on Steroids
Adam Root - Wednesday, April 22, 2009
According to MIT's Human Dynamics Group, communication is more than updating your status across social networks. To find how, why, and more importantly how to improve communication within groups a new field of study has emerged called Reality Mining.
Reality Mining studies how we interact by tracking people through location aware devices. Currently it is being used in corporate communication, and academia purposes.
For advertisers the data captured of the masses using location aware devices could spawn a revolution. Although not everyone is excited. Many people are not fond of the idea of brands knowing the time, location, and duration of their daily activities. In the meantime we will have to settle with opted-in participants.
